About the Startup

The concept of small DIY eco house was created when we investigated an alternative solution to creating small dwellings that could be easily build by an inexperienced owner builder. This was partly due to the high costs and limited options Australian housing has currently to offer.

A few criteria were paramount during the planning & design phase: The simplicity of the build, the materials and the affordability. Another focus was on the functionality and how the house was to adapt different stages of the occupant’s life.

Camilla Novotna

I have enthusiasm for changing lifestyles, determination to change the world, devotion to a positive change of any kind, love of innovative ideas and desire to always push the boundaries.

I have been interested in eco buildings & healthy living for quite a while. After reaching 30 years of age, the desire to have my own place crept in and I started to research my options.

Market research showed an opportunity to introduce an affordable, versatile, easy to assemble and optionally also zero energy kit home, with minimal operating costs and positive environmental impact. And so, ecokit was born.

I’m excited by, and proud of, what I have achieved (with a help of many other like-minded professionals) and I am passionate about providing affordable, accessible organic home that connects the concept of comfort and coziness with the functionality of a modern, ecological, elegant home to people who need it.

How Runway is helping us

I came to Runway lacking direction and craving support. The bootcamp was intense but being pushed out of comfort zone was exactly what was needed for further progress.

Over the course of 12 weeks I have gained tonnes of knowledge that I could immediately apply to my business. The support from the crew, CoGG, mentors and even amongst us, the start up founders, was incredible. Not only I have now a clear vision on where to next on my way to success, I have also gained many new friends.
