About the startup

GCORE helps people and organisations manage personal security. It prepares individuals to deal with situations of risk and helps organisations manage their duty of care to personnel in an increasingly hazardous world.

GCORE was established to ensure the safety of people in threatening situations. Founders Scott Flower and Linda Wong recognised that most individuals are poorly prepared to deal with personal security crises whether they are at home, at work or travelling in a foreign country.

GCORE offers unique, defense training and scenario drills to prepare people for threatening situations. Participants are often confronted by the issues examined in these classes, but come away feeling confident, informed and better equipped to deal with dangerous situations. See how we have helped one of our Graduate research students in the field here: https://youtu.be/erK5BHpu_14

GCORE’s global online community is another unique element of the program. It connects people to share personal insights and up-to-date information, providing a platform to ask questions of people who have actually visited remote areas or worked in obscure fields.

Our unique Field Connect platform and V.Alrt button provide peace of mind for families and managers and allow clients to raise an alarm and communicate with the people best placed to get them out of harm’s way.

How Runway is helping us

I still recall the excitement when I received the email on the 15th May 2017 informing me that I was accepted into the Runway Geelong Bootcamp. The Runway Geelong Bootcamp provided me with clarity on various aspects of our start-up. Despite having a corporate background with senior executive experience, where I have been exposed to the various topics discussed at Bootcamp, I still benefited because it is so easy to forget the basics when it involves your own business. The coaches/mentors were knowledgeable, supportive and constructive in their feedback. Following the bootcamp, I was one of the lucky five start-ups to be accepted into the Accelerator program. Overall a positive experience for learning, sharing, testing and supporting what I believe is an important initiative for the future of Geelong. But the biggest thing that I take-away from my experience at Runway is the connections I have made and the on-going support that I believe our cohort – “the pioneers” – will provide to eachother.
